Cintar became incorporated in Pennsylvania in March of 1983 as an Engineering Firm.  We were first located in Downtown Pittsburgh at 907/909 Penn Avenue with our offices residing on two floors.

First Projects

Our first projects were in the Steel, Heavy Industrial and Material Handling Industries.  Because the economic conditions in 1983 were quite depressed, our business plan was to develop relationships with companies that, in some cases, eliminated their Engineering Departments as cost reductions. They contracted Cintar to support their engineering needs on an as-needed basis.  Many of our first projects with these clients were Feasibility Studies and Conceptual Engineering Reports (CERs), services we still provide today.

Adapting to Industry Changes

As Steel Mill work reduced in the 1990s, we expanded to the Utility Power and Water Treatment Industries.  Cintar holds Engineering Blanket Contracts for Electric Utility Service Providers and Heavy Industrial clients in Western Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio, and West Virginia.  During this time, we also provided Design Services for international projects including the ATI Shanghai STAL Project.  Our international work has included 19 projects in China, and numerous international projects in Canada, Mexico, South America, and Africa.

The Oil and Gas industry has created a resurgence of the Steel Industry, especially Pipe Mills, and Cintar is at the forefront providing multidisciplinary engineering services to Steel clients once again.

Cintar Today

Today, Cintar has over 100 employees, and operates locally, nationally and internationally along with holding Professional Engineering registrations in 43 states and 3 Canadian provinces.  Cintar has extensive experience in planning, feasibility studies, engineering, managing capital projects, plant start-ups, production and facility asset evaluation, and optimization.

Cintar’s staff is senior level engineers and designers with vast experiences in heavy industrial and steel making. They are involved in all facets of small and large, complex projects.  We have a level of experience found in few local engineering firms. And we have 25 Professional Engineers on staff. This wealth of knowledge allows us to be efficient in our performance, as we can quickly analyze an issue and determine the correct resolution in the most cost-conscious manner.

Cintar is now one of the oldest local engineering firms in the Pittsburgh area under the same ownership.
